School Support
School Support
Educators — you are the first line of support for the children in our community, and you deserve to feel confident in helping your students navigate grief.
When children return to school after a loss, they often look to you for guidance on their grief journey. My role is to ensure you feel equipped, supported, and capable of handling this tender and critical time in a child’s life.
I partner with schools in two key ways:
Workshops & Private Trainings – Practical, research-based strategies to help you support grieving students.
Consultative Crisis Support – Immediate, expert guidance following a crisis affecting your school community.
When a student in your school community is coping with grief and loss, they believe their teachers will know exactly how to respond to them in the most trauma-informed way. Unfortunately, many times teachers and other school staff don’t receive child-specific grief training and can often feel uneducated on the most updated information on ways to help kids navigate grief.
Why This Training is for You:
Teachers deserve to have an understanding on how to respond to grieving children and families, and my training and experience can help transform teachers from overwhelmed to empowered on this sensitive area.
When educators leave this training, they will have an understanding and actionable tools around:
Defining grief
Learning of types of losses that can lead to grief
Myths and misconceptions of grief and grieving
Age specific reactions to and understanding of grief
Developmentally appropriate ways to express and cope with grief
Supporting yourself and others through grief
Pricing:
2 Hour Workshop: $399
Half-day Workshop: $599
Full-day Workshop: $999 (includes a 1-hour planning session to address your school’s unique needs)
*Does not include any travel costs for schools outside of the Central IL area. Additional fees to cover any travel/lodging needed.
Grief Education & Training
When tragedy or trauma strikes, your school community looks to you for answers, comfort, and leadership. But in those moments, finding the right words, and the right approach, can feel overwhelming.
This is where I step in. As a certified child life specialist with deep experience supporting children through crisis, loss, and trauma, I help schools guide their students and staff through the hardest days with clarity, compassion, and confidence.
Why Schools Call Me After a Crisis
After a traumatic event, school leaders often face urgent questions:
How do we explain what happened to students in a way that’s sensitive, age-appropriate, and safe?
How do we give every student a healthy, structured way to process their feelings?
What coping tools will help our students and staff begin to heal—starting now?
If you can’t answer these questions confidently, your school risks leaving students to navigate their grief alone; I make sure you don’t have to.
How I Can Help
I provide immediate, practical, and compassionate support so your school community can begin the healing process:
Clear, Developmentally-Appropriate Explanations
I help you deliver information that is honest, sensitive, and tailored to each developmental stage — reducing fear and confusion.
Safe Spaces for Emotional Expression
I assist in providing guided opportunities for students to share and process their feelings in a healthy, constructive way.
Practical Coping Skills & Healing Strategies
I provide tools and resources your students and staff can use now, and in the future, to build resilience and regain a sense of safety.
